Steve still doesn’t get it
I wish every prime minister ran government the way a minority government needs to be run. Stephen Harper doesn’t seem to understand how you keep a minority government alive. You do it by working with other parties. The reason that he was almost ousted from government last month is because he didn’t present a budget that parliament could approve of. Remember, members of parliament are our representatives. What he should have done was present his ideas to parliament, listen to their ideas on the budget, and work towards an agreement. Then this wouldn’t have happened.
It looks like he’s about to do it again. He is telling us that he has a huge budget coming up. I think he should have consulted the other party leaders by now about this. When he tables the bill he should make sure there is enough time to work with the other party leaders to make changes so that most people agree with it. It’s possible it’s a great budget and they will agree with it. Only time will tell.
The point is he’s trying to run this country like he has a majority government. He doesn’t. He is going to have to change his ways or government will change. I’m sure it’s happened to good and bad prime ministers in the past.
